Information

Laguiole Style de Vie Champagne Saber (Luxury Line)

Opening champagne isn't just about removing the cork - it's a ceremony. With a Champagne Saber from Laguiole Style de Vie, you elevate the atmosphere before the first sip is taken. This saber is a jewel of a tool, executed in classic style with a curved stainless steel blade and a beautiful wooden handle. It comes delivered in a heavy, black wooden crate, making it undoubtedly the coolest gift on the table, whether for a wedding, anniversary, or birthday.

✔ Stainless Steel
✔ Wooden handle
✔ Luxury gift box
✔ Safe (blunt blade)
Tip for success: The secret to sabrage is temperature. The bottle neck must be ice cold! Place the bottle upside down in an ice bucket (or freezer) for 10-15 minutes before sabering for a clean break.

Features

  • Classic design: Inspired by the sabers Napoleon's cavalry used to celebrate victories on the battlefield.
  • Safe to use: The blade is not sharp (it's not supposed to be). Sabrage relies on the force of the impact against the bottle's weakest point, not cutting.
  • Gift-ready: The black wooden crate ("Luxury Box") provides an exclusive "unboxing" experience.
  • Quality steel: The blade is solid and thick, made to withstand the impact against the glass bottle time after time.

How to Saber (Short version)

  1. Ensure the bottle is very cold (approx. 3-5 degrees Celsius).
  2. Remove the foil around the top and the wire cage.
  3. Locate the seam on the bottle (where the glass is joined).
  4. Hold the bottle at a 45-degree angle pointing away from people.
  5. Slide the saber along the seam in one firm motion and hit the "lip" of the bottle neck. Pop!

FAQ

Is the saber sharp?
No, the blade is completely blunt. Sabrage works because the saber hits the glass ring at the top with force, causing the pressure inside the bottle to shoot the top off. You are not supposed to cut the glass.
Can I saber Prosecco and Cava?
Yes, as long as it is sparkling wine made with the "traditional method" (high pressure in the bottle), it works fine. Prosecco can also be sabered, but make sure it is extra cold as the glass is often slightly thinner.
Does glass get into the drink?
No, the pressure inside the bottle (approx. 6 bar) blows outwards. This ensures that any microscopic glass shards are shot away along with the cork. However, it is recommended to sacrifice the first small splash.
