Hamburger Press Ø85 mm in Stainless Steel: Identical Burgers Every Time

With the Landig hamburger press every burger gets the same diameter and thickness, so they are all done at the same time on the grill or in the frying pan. The press is made of stainless steel and forms burgers of Ø85 mm. It comes apart in seconds and can go in the dishwasher, so it is as easy to clean as it is to use.

Hand shaped burgers are rarely the same. One is thick in the middle, another thin at the edge, and you end up moving them around the grill. With the press you fill the mould with minced meat, push down and lift out a burger with flat sides and a straight edge. Stainless steel does not pick up odours or fat, and the press can sit in the fridge between batches if you are working with a lot of meat.

Pro tip!
Press a dimple into the middle of the burger with your thumb after shaping it. Burgers shrink and dome as they cook, and the dimple keeps them flat. Mince with around 20 percent fat gives a juicy burger that also holds its shape better in the press.

Features

  • Diameter Ø85 mm: Gives identical burgers that cook evenly and are done at the same time.
  • Stainless steel: Does not pick up odours or flavours, and handles fat and moisture from raw meat.
  • Easy to take apart: The parts come apart for thorough cleaning.
  • Dishwasher safe: Goes straight into the machine after use.
  • Flat sides and straight edge: The burger gets good contact with the grate or pan and an even crust.

How to use

  1. Wash the press before first use.
  2. Wet the mould lightly with cold water, so the meat releases more easily.
  3. Fill the mould with minced meat and spread it evenly.
  4. Press the plunger firmly down to shape the burger.
  5. Lift out the burger and place it on a tray lined with baking paper.
  6. Take the press apart and wash it in the dishwasher or by hand.

FAQ Frequently asked questions

How thick should a burger be?

Most people press burgers to around 1 to 2 cm. Thin burgers of around 1 cm suit smash style and quick cooking, thicker burgers suit the grill when you want a juicy centre.

Why does the burger shrink when cooked?

Fat and juices run out and the proteins contract. That is why the burger should be pressed slightly wider than the bun, and the dimple in the middle stops it from doming.

How long should a burger be cooked?

Minced meat should be cooked through. Use a meat thermometer and cook until the core reaches 72 degrees, then the burger is safe to eat.

Can I freeze the burgers after pressing?

Yes. Put baking paper between the burgers and freeze them flat on a tray before packing. Then you can take them out one at a time, and they keep the shape from the press.
