The casing is of the Pecta C type, a shrinkable artificial casing made of polyamide (plastic). It is supplied in ready-to-use pieces of 50 cm, closed at one end, making it incredibly fast and easy to use for the home producer.

With a diameter of 72 mm, you get a substantial sausage that fits perfectly on a slice of bread. The material has superb shrinkage properties, meaning the casing contracts with the meat as the sausage cools. The result is a tight, smooth, and wrinkle free surface. This is a pure barrier casing that retains all moisture and flavor during cooking, but note that it does not allow smoke to penetrate.
Before use, the casing should be soaked in lukewarm water (approx. 20-25°C) for 15 to 30 minutes. This makes the plastic pliable and elastic, allowing you to stuff it tightly without the risk of bursting.
