Information
Best Charcoal Marabu (10 kg)
Marabu has become a legend in the BBQ community, and for good reason. This charcoal, made from the invasive bush Dichrostachys cinerea from Cuba, is known for its incredible density and hardness. Best Charcoal Marabu burns longer than almost any other charcoal on the market, making it the clear choice for "Low & Slow" enthusiasts cooking brisket or pulled pork for 12+ hours without refilling.

The charcoal is characterized by its branch-like shape and metallic sound when pieces are struck together. It emits a very neutral aroma, giving you full control over the flavor profile – perfect if you want to use your own smoking chips or let the ingredients' natural flavors shine. Although known for long cooks, Marabu can also reach extremely high temperatures, making it excellent for pizza baking in a Kamado.
Marabu is hard to light due to its density. We strongly recommend using an electric lighter (Looftlighter) or fire starters and giving it 15-20 minutes to get properly hot before closing the lid. In return, you are rewarded with hours of stable heat.

FAQ
Why does the charcoal look like branches?
Marabu is a bush, not a large tree. Therefore, the charcoal often retains the natural round shape of branches and stems, which provides good airflow.
Is it hard to light?
Yes, slightly harder than softer woods like birch. Use fire starters or a gas torch and be patient in the beginning – it's worth the wait.
