Information

Rib Puller Blade 14 mm: Replacement Blade for the Narrowest Rib Bones

Rib bones on lamb and other small carcasses are thin, and a blade made for beef will not do the job. This is a replacement blade in hardened steel for the Handle for Rib Pullers, with a 14 mm blade width made for the narrowest rib bones. The right width lets the blade sit close around the bone and scrape meat and membranes clean in one pull, without tearing the fibres around it. The blade is changed quickly, so the tool is ready again in a moment.

A sharp blade in the right width is the difference between clean rib bones and torn meat. The blades come in four widths, 14, 16, 18 and 22 mm, so you can match the blade to the animal you are working on. With a spare blade in the drawer, butchering day does not stop because an edge goes dull mid-job, and a fresh blade extends the life of the rib puller you already own.

Pro tip for butchering day!
On small rib bones it is easy to use too much force. Let the edge of the blade do the work and pull the bone through in a calm, steady motion along the bone, so the membranes follow the blade and the meat stays whole.

Features

  • Hardened steel: The blade keeps its edge through many carcasses and handles bone contact without bending.
  • The right width: 14 mm sits close around the bone on the narrowest rib bones, so meat and membranes follow the blade instead of tearing.
  • Quick spare part: The blade is changed in seconds, keeping production up to speed.

How to use

  1. Release the old blade from the rib puller.
  2. Fit the new blade and check that it sits securely.
  3. Guide the blade in around the rib bone and pull the bone through in one steady motion.
  4. Clean and dry the blade after use to keep the edge sharp and free of rust.

FAQ Frequently asked questions

Which blade width should I choose?

Choose the width by the bone: 14 mm for the narrowest rib bones such as lamb, 16 mm for standard pork ribs, 18 mm for coarser pork ribs and 22 mm for beef and game. The blade should sit close around the bone without forcing.

Does the blade fit my rib puller?

The blade fits the Handle for Rib Pullers. It does NOT fit the Landig Rib Puller with blade, which is a complete tool with its own blade. If your puller is from another manufacturer, check that the blade mount is of the same type before ordering.

What is a rib puller used for?

It removes meat and membranes from rib bones: the blade is placed around the bone, and as the bone is pulled through, it is scraped clean in one motion. That gives clean bones, more meat left on the cut and far faster deboning than with a knife alone.
